Yorktown overwhelms Anderson in 83-0 season-opening victory
Tigers score 12 touchdowns while producing points on offense, defense and special teams

ANDERSON, Ind. — Yorktown paid a visit to Anderson in its season opening Indiana high school football game. The Tigers made quick work of the Indians scoring 36 points in the opening quarter and never looked back, blasting Anderson 83-0. The Tigers led 62-0 at halftime triggering a running clock after adding 26 points in the second quarter. They scored seven more in the third and closed the game with 14 fourth-quarter points.
Kaden Crumes got things started in a hurry returning the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown. Crumes would later return a punt 70 yards for a score. Tigers quarterback Sam Tokar directed an efficient passing attack, completing 13 of 16 attempts for 148 yards and three touchdowns. He also scored on a 2-yard run. The senior connected with Ben Steele on a 9-yard scoring toss, Cooper Luzadder from 15 yards and Canden Whitaker on a 16-yard TD.
The Tigers were equally effective on the ground, gaining 172 yards and six touchdowns on just 18 attempts—an average of 9.6 yards per carry. Crumes made an impact in several phases. The senior caught three passes for a team-high 34 receiving yards finishing with 210 all-purpose yards. Yorktown accumulated 340 yards from scrimmage on only 33 offensive plays, averaging more than 10 yards per snap.
Freshman Lane West produced the longest rushing play, scoring on his only carry from 37 yards out. Nathan Spangler also added a touchdown on five attempts. Seth Clark spelled Tokar accounting for two touchdowns, scoring once on the ground and once on a fumble recovery. The sophomore also recorded Yorktown’s lone interception.
