Westfield races past Homestead for 49-21 victory
Melvin throws for 281 yards and three touchdowns as Shamrocks pile up 440 yards

Westfield scored touchdowns on five of its first-half possessions pulling away from Homestead for a 49-21 for a week 1 Indiana high school football win. Quarterback Cooper Melvin led the Shamrocks’ balanced attack, completing 17 of 28 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 23 yards and another score as Westfield rolled up 440 yards of total offense.
The Rocks took control in the opening quarter. Elliott Clevenger scored on a 1-yard run with 9:03 remaining, and Melvin connected with Baylor Conner for a 3-yard touchdown late in the period. Westfield doubled its lead early in the second quarter. Maison McCray broke free for a 27-yard touchdown run before Evan Crow scored from 11 yards out, stretching the margin to 28-0. Melvin responded before the break, scoring on a 7-yard run with 15 seconds remaining to send the Shamrocks into halftime with a 35-14 lead.
Melvin connected with Andrew Noble on a pair of scoring strikes from 22 and 50 yards. Noble led Westfield’s receivers with five catches for 111 yards. Henry Everts caught three passes for 54 yards, Conner recorded four receptions for 41 yards, and Caiden Snow added three catches for 26 yards.
The Spartans managed only 25 net rushing yards on 35 attempts, however, as Westfield registered eight sacks. Snow led the defensive pressure with three sacks and three tackles for loss. Adrian Feltrinelli added two sacks, while Wade Washo and Max Vandegriff each recorded one. The Shamrocks totaled 14 tackles for loss on the night.
