LIZTON, Ind. — Tri-West Hendricks paired explosive offense with a timely defensive touchdown Friday night, building a commanding halftime lead on its way to a 45–12 victory over Triton Central.
The Bruins improved to 6–2, while the visiting Tigers fell to 3–5.
Tri-West established a 14–0 first-quarter advantage, highlighted by Jack Sorgi’s 54-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Alexander.
Triton Central briefly slowed the Bruins in the second quarter with a fourth-down stop. But the momentum quickly swung back when Layton Quinlan intercepted a pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 21–0.
Tri-West then added an offensive twist: Braxton Fleece threw a long touchdown pass to Sorgi. The Bruins carried a 28–0 advantage into halftime.
Jax Clayton’s 34-yard field goal increased the margin to 31–0 in the third quarter before Matthew Wilkins connected with Ty Bergman to put Triton Central on the scoreboard.
The Bruins answered emphatically. Wanson Hall broke loose for a 70-yard touchdown run, and the extra point made it 38–6 entering the fourth quarter.
Another fourth-down stop gave Tri-West possession in Tigers territory. Sorgi followed with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Zach Culpepper, pushing the advantage to 45–6. Triton Central added a late touchdown to complete the scoring. Hall finished with 108 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, supplying the ground threat to complement Tri-West’s passing attack.
Sorgi completed 11 of 15 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Alexander caught four passes for 100 yards and a score, while Sorgi added a touchdown reception on Fleece’s only pass attempt.
The Bruins produced 365 yards of total offense, including 227 through the air and 138 rushing.
Wilkins completed 10 of 19 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns for Triton Central, with two interceptions. He also led the Tigers with 46 rushing yards. Kemper led TC with five catches for 96 yards.
Triton Central finished with 234 yards of offense, but its scoreless first half left too much ground to recover against a Tri-West team that scored in every quarter.
