Sorgi, Cummings help Tri-West rally past Shelbyville, 27-24

LIZTON — Jack Sorgi threw two touchdown passes to Carter Cummings and rushed for another score as Tri-West overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat Shelbyville 27-24 in an Indiana high school football game.

The Bruins were held scoreless in the first half as Shelbyville built a 10-0 lead. Tri-West answered with 13 unanswered third-quarter points to move ahead, then matched the Golden Bears’ 14 fourth-quarter points to finish with the victory.

Tri-West improved to 3-1, while Shelbyville fell to 2-2.

Sorgi completed 19 of 27 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the Bruins on the ground with 65 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, accounting for 295 yards of total offense.

Cummings caught six passes for 122 yards and both of Sorgi’s touchdown throws. His longest reception covered 57 yards. Wanson Hall added 42 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, along with three receptions for 18 yards. Quentin Alexander caught four passes for 41 yards, while Jax Garver added five receptions for 41 yards.

The Bruins finished with 353 yards of total offense, including 123 rushing yards.
