INDIANAPOLIS — A competitive opening quarter gave way to a decisive Indianapolis Shortridge victory Friday night as the Blue Devils shut out Phalen Leadership Academy over the final three periods.

Shortridge broke a 6–6 tie with 15 second-quarter points, then continued pulling away for a 46–6 victory in an Indiana high school conference football matchup. The Blue Devils improved to 4–3, while Phalen fell to 2–5.

Kaden Moore rushed for three touchdowns, Jakhari Elliot topped 100 yards on the ground, and Lawuan Similton contributed touchdowns on defense and special teams.

The first quarter offered little separation. Both teams scored six points, leaving the game tied entering the second period and giving Phalen an opportunity to challenge the host Blue Devils.

Shortridge took control before halftime.

The Blue Devils scored 15 unanswered points in the second quarter while keeping Phalen off the scoreboard. That surge turned the early tie into a 21–6 halftime advantage and left the visitors needing a second-half response.

Instead, Shortridge widened the gap.

The Blue Devils added 14 points in the third quarter, extending their lead to 35–6. Their defense held Phalen scoreless for a second consecutive period, preventing the visitors from cutting into the deficit.

By the start of the fourth quarter, Shortridge had outscored Phalen 29–0 since the end of the first. The Blue Devils added 11 more points in the final period to complete a run of 40 unanswered points.

The ground game supplied much of Shortridge’s offensive production.

Elliot, a sophomore, rushed nine times for 123 yards and a touchdown, averaging 13.7 yards per carry. His longest run covered 58 yards.

Moore carried nine times for 60 yards and three touchdowns, providing the Blue Devils with another productive scoring option. Josiah Elliot added 47 yards on just three attempts, including a 39-yard gain.

Similton made his impact beyond the offense. The sophomore returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown and also scored on a punt return. He finished with 47 yards on two punt returns, giving Shortridge scoring contributions from all three phases of the game.

On defense, Josiah Elliot recorded seven tackles, including two for loss. Daquon Edmonds added four tackles, a sack, two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.

Shortridge’s team honors reflected those contributions. Jakhari Elliot was selected as the offensive player of the game, Similton earned special-teams and overall recognition, and Edmonds received the defensive honor.

Phalen matched the Blue Devils on the scoreboard through one quarter, but Shortridge’s sustained scoring and three consecutive scoreless defensive periods turned that early deadlock into a comfortable home victory.
