UNION CITY, Ind. — Indianapolis Shortridge built a three-touchdown halftime lead and kept Union City from closing the gap after the break, defeating the host Indians 33–12 Friday, Oct. 9.

The Blue Devils scored in every quarter and received touchdowns from their offense, defense and special teams to improve to 5–3. Union City fell to 2–6 in the nonconference matchup.

Shortridge established control in the opening quarter, scoring 14 unanswered points. The Blue Devils added another touchdown in the second period while keeping Union City off the scoreboard, taking a 20–0 advantage into halftime.

That first-half separation proved decisive.

Union City broke through with six points in the third quarter, but Shortridge also scored six, maintaining its 20-point cushion at 26–6 entering the fourth.

The Indians added another touchdown in the final period. The Blue Devils countered with seven points of their own, completing a game in which Union City’s improved second-half scoring never translated into a smaller deficit at a quarter’s end.

Kyree Robinson-McAllister supplied two touchdowns for Shortridge, scoring on a reception and a punt return. The junior caught four passes for 62 yards, accounting for all but five of the Blue Devils’ passing yards.

Kaden Moore added a defensive touchdown, returning an interception 40 yards. Those two return scores complemented an offense that produced three touchdowns.

Jakhari Elliot led Shortridge’s ground attack with 78 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, averaging 11.1 yards per attempt. Josiah Elliot added 17 yards and a rushing touchdown on three carries.

Sophomore quarterback Caleb Smith completed five of nine passes for 67 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Shortridge’s posted offensive totals were 96 rushing yards and 67 passing yards.

Jermaine Barnett anchored the defense with 12 tackles, including three for loss. Jakhari Elliot contributed 11 tackles, while Josiah Elliot added eight tackles, including one for loss.

The Blue Devils’ early scoring and first-half shutout gave them room to withstand Union City’s two second-half touchdowns and finish with a 21-point road victory.
