Alexander scores three touchdowns as Blackhawks build 42-point halftime lead

SHERIDAN — Sheridan scored all 42 of its points before halftime and reached the end zone on offense, defense and special teams to defeat visiting Taylor 42-0 in an Indiana high school football matchup.

Hayden Alexander scored three touchdowns as the Blackhawks improved to 4-2 with the Hoosier Heartland Conference victory. Taylor fell to 0-6.

Sheridan scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters to establish a 42-0 halftime lead and second half running clock. Neither team scored after the break.

Alexander rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns on four carries and caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from Brock Hagan. Hagan completed four of six passes for 107 yards and a score.

Brody Heck contributed touchdowns on a rushing attempt and a punt return. He finished with 61 rushing yards on two carries, including a 60-yard run, and returned three punts for 91 yards, including a 61-yard return. Heck also caught a 20-yard pass and intercepted a pass, returning it 16 yards.

Braxton Schwerdtfeger added a defensive touchdown on a 37-yard fumble return. Sheridan finished with 237 yards of offense, gaining 128 on the ground and 109 through the air.

Waylyn Grinstead led the Blackhawks’ defense with eight tackles, including six solo stops and 1½ tackles for loss. Alexander, Schwerdtfeger and Trebor Rayle each added five tackles. Sheridan recorded 10 tackles for loss, with Alexander, Schwerdtfeger and Dylan Lopez contributing two apiece.
