WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Roncalli wasted little time establishing control Friday night, scoring on its first two possessions before a three-touchdown second quarter carried the Royals toward a 42-6 victory over Harrison.
Alex Jarvis rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries as Roncalli improved to 6-2. The Raiders fell to 2-6 in the nonconference matchup.
The tone was set immediately. After Harrison deferred the opening kickoff, Roncalli took possession at its own 42-yard line and drove for a rushing touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The Royals then forced a punt and struck through the air on their next possession, stretching the advantage to 14-0.
Harrison began finding room on its second series, moving across midfield into Roncalli territory. But a sack pushed the Raiders backward and helped force another punt, cutting short their opportunity to answer.
Roncalli responded with another sustained march. Jarvis broke a run into Harrison territory, and the Royals reached the Raiders’ 11-yard line before the first quarter ended.
That drive paid off early in the second quarter when Jarvis scored from 2 yards out. The extra point pushed the lead to 21-0.
The pattern continued: Harrison struggled to sustain possession, and Roncalli turned its next opportunity into points. After another Raiders punt, the Royals advanced from their own 47-yard line, converted a third down and used a long run to reach the red zone. Jarvis finished with another 2-yard touchdown run, making it 27-0 after the missed extra point.
A second-quarter sack helped end Harrison’s next possession, giving Roncalli another chance before halftime. The Royals capitalized with a touchdown pass to Luke Roeder, followed by a successful two-point run, to take a commanding 35-0 lead into the break.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. Roncalli added a rushing touchdown and extra point in the fourth to extend the margin to 42-0.
Harrison’s final possession produced its lone touchdown. The Raiders moved across midfield and into scoring position before Easton Foley connected with Sullivan Garrett on an 8-yard touchdown pass in the closing minute. The extra point was unsuccessful. Roncalli finished with nearly equal production on the ground and through the air: 191 rushing yards and 192 passing yards for 383 total yards.
Kallen Stahley completed three of four passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, while Dominic Cromer went five of six for 70 yards and a score. Mickey Flynn completed all three of his attempts for 31 yards and added a rushing touchdown.
Mikey Dillon supplied a 57-yard touchdown reception, and Roeder finished with two catches for 47 yards and a score.
The Royals’ defense recorded eight tackles for loss, including three sacks, supplying the stops that helped Roncalli turn its early advantage into a decisive halftime lead.
