Gray throws for 278 yards as Arabians roll to 55-20 victory

PENDLETON — Joel Weaver rushed for five touchdowns and Pendleton Heights piled up 484 yards of offense to defeat visiting Mt. Vernon 55-20 in an Indiana high school football matchup.

Weaver gained 153 yards on 15 carries, averaging 10.2 yards per attempt and breaking loose for a 59-yard run. The junior accounted for five of Pendleton Heights’ (5-1) six rushing touchdowns.

Brandt Gray complemented that ground attack by completing 14 of 17 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. The senior connected with five receivers and averaged nearly 20 yards per completion. Lowan Beal led the Arabians with 91 receiving yards and a touchdown on three catches, including a 77-yard reception. Camden Saxon caught four passes for 68 yards and another score.  CJ Mitchem added two receptions for 57 yards, while Byron Vores and Ryder Garner each finished with 31 receiving yards.

Kaden Rich scored on his lone rushing attempt, a 22-yard run as Pendleton Heights finished with 206 rushing yards on just 24 attempts.

The Arabians scored eight touchdowns, combining six rushing scores with Gray’s two touchdown passes.
