Parks scores four touchdowns as New Palestine defeats Yorktown 42-28

Junior rushes for 267 yards as Dragons capture conference victory

Logan Parks rushed for 267 yards and four touchdowns as New Palestine defeated Yorktown 42-28 Friday night in an Indiana high school football Hoosier Heritage conference game.

Parks carried the ball 27 times and averaged 9.9 yards per attempt. His longest run covered 33 yards. He accounted for all four of New Palestine’s (2-1) rushing touchdowns as the Dragons accumulated 266 yards on the ground. Quarterback Rhys Ragan added 203 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 10 of 19 attempts. New Palestine finished with 469 yards of total offense and averaged more than 20 yards per completion. Cael Butler caught two passes for a team-high 82 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown. Landon Maddox made four receptions for 72 yards and another score, while Mason Oglesby added three catches for 36 yards.

Yorktown (2-1) countered with an effective passing attack led by Sam Tokar. The senior completed 29 of 40 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 58 yards and a score.  Cooper Luzadder led Yorktown’s receiving corps with six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. Kaden Crumes caught seven passes for 48 yards and a score, and Seth Clark turned his only reception into a 36-yard touchdown.

The Dragons’ defense, however, intercepted Tokar three times and recorded five sacks. Carson Forsyth made two interceptions, while Oglesby returned another interception for 16 yards.  Sam Hirschy led New Palestine’s pass rush with three sacks and three tackles for loss. Eli Purciful and Kaeden Ralph added one sack apiece. Waynee Estes led the Dragons with eight total tackles, while Evan Walker finished with seven.

Yorktown finished with 407 yards of offense, but New Palestine’s rushing attack and three interceptions proved decisive in the Dragons’ 14-point victory.
