Hill’s five touchdowns lead Mooresville past Franklin

Pioneers pile up 494 yards of offense in 49-28 conference victory

MOORESVILLE — Elijah Hill threw four touchdown passes and rushed for another score as Mooresville defeated visiting Franklin Community 49-28 in an Indiana high school football matchup.

Meanwhile, the junior completed 21 of 27 passes for 323 yards, helping Pioneers improve to 3-3 with the Mid-State Conference victory. Franklin fell to 4-2.

Mooresville built a 14-7 first-quarter lead and extended its advantage to 28-14 at halftime. Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter before the Pioneers outscored Franklin 14-7 in the fourth.

Elijah Thompson and Keagan Burch each caught two touchdown passes. Thompson finished with three receptions for 86 yards, including a 62-yard catch, while Burch had six receptions for 77 yards.

Cooper Jones led Mooresville with 92 receiving yards on six catches. Jackson Denny added five receptions for 57 yards as Hill distributed his completions among five receivers.

Talan Dobkins paced the Pioneers’ rushing attack with 53 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Cole Shouse added 38 yards on six attempts, while Hill and Daniel Pius each contributed a rushing touchdown.

Mooresville finished with 494 yards of offense, including 171 on the ground, and scored seven touchdowns.

The Pioneers’ defense recovered three fumbles, with Quinn Kenworthy, Daniel Belesi and Treyton Burch each collecting one. James Huxford and Zion Brownlee were credited with forced fumbles.
