Monroe Central shuts out Union County in 44-0 season-opening victory

Hart accounts for three touchdowns as Golden Bears score in every quarter

PARKER CITY, Ind. — Monroe Central scored 24 second-quarter points and kept Union County off the scoreboard throughout a 44-0 season-opening Indiana high school football victory.

The Golden Bears led 6-0 after the opening quarter before carrying a 30-0 advantage into halftime. Monroe Central added eight points in the third quarter and six in the fourth to complete the shutout.

Quarterback Elias Hart completed 11 of 17 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored on the ground, giving him a hand in three of Monroe Central’s six touchdowns. Both of Hart’s touchdown passes went to Caden Dance. The senior caught six passes for 72 yards. Leum Butler collected three receptions for 49 yards. Carson Siekmann scored on a 25-yard run, while Nic Cope and Kaden Sullivan added rushing touchdowns.

Monroe Central’s defense limited Union County to five first downs and kept the Patriots scoreless on 38 offensive plays. Siekmann also returned an interception 51 yards.
