Lapel Rides Balanced Scoring to 63-42 win over Rensselaer Central
LAPEL — A strong shooting night and dominant work on the glass propelled host Lapel to a 63-42 win over Rensselaer Central and the regional title.
Lapel shot an efficient 43 percent from the field (23-of-54) and connected on seven three-pointers, using balanced scoring and rebounding control to dictate the pace. Lapel (22 – 4) controlled the rebounding battle 39-24, including 15 offensive rebounds that helped create extra possessions. The Lady Bulldogs also dished out 10 assists and recorded four steals while committing 16 turnovers. The interior presence and steady scoring allowed Lapel to gradually build separation, limiting Rensselaer Central’s ability to mount sustained runs.
Senior Laniah Wills delivered a commanding performance inside, finishing with a double-double of 22 points and a game-high 19 rebounds, including 7 on the offensive glass. Wills added two steals and a block, anchoring the Bulldogs defensively while generating second-chance opportunities throughout the contest. Junior Addie Bodenhorn poured in 16 points while drilling 5 of 9 from beyond the arc. Serenity Conyers corraled seven boards and Layla Dawson dished our seven assists.
