Plainfield Pulls Away Late to Top Mooresville 68–34
PLAINFIELD — A tight game through the first half turned into a dominant second-half performance as Plainfield’s girls basketball team pulled away for a convincing 68–34 victory over Mooresville in Mid State Conferece girls action.
The Lady Quakers built a slim edge early, leading 14–10 after the first quarter and 32–20 at halftime, but it was the third quarter where Plainfield truly seized control. Using defensive pressure and balanced scoring, the Quakers stretched the margin to double digits and never looked back. Plainfield outscored the Lady Pioneers 17–3 in the third quarter, turning the game into a runaway before adding 19 more points in the fourth to seal the 34-point win.
Plainfield had multiple contributors on the offensive end, highlighted by Hannah Menser’s game-high 24 points. Menser scoted 17 in the first half and was hot from behind the arc drilling four 3’s. Moriah Armstrong added 12 points in the win.
The game’s defining stretch came midway through the third quarter when Plainfield forced several turnovers and converted them into quick points, ballooning a 12-point halftime lead into a 25-point advantage by the end of the period.
