Carmel blanks Fishers 47-0 in season opener

Treadway throws three touchdown passes as Greyhounds pile up 416 yards

CARMEL, Ind. — Carmel delivered a dominant performance on both sides of the ball Friday night, opening its season with a 47-0 Indiana high school football victory over Fishers.

The Greyhounds scored in every quarter, built a 27-0 halftime advantage and finished with 416 yards of total offense. Carmel rushed for 264 yards and four touchdowns while adding 152 yards and three scores through the air. Quarterback Jackson Treadway led the attack, completing 10 of 14 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried eight times for 17 yards and another score, giving him a hand in four of Carmel’s seven touchdowns. Wide receiver Alim Broadnax was Treadway’s top target, catching four passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns. His longest reception covered 35 yards.

Carmel established control immediately, scoring 13 points in the opening quarter before adding 14 in the second. The Greyhounds extended their lead with 13 more points in the third quarter and closed the scoring with a fourth-quarter touchdown.

The Carmel running game featured several contributors. Mychael Lewis led the Greyhounds with 72 yards on 13 carries, while Ayden Johnson added 45 yards on 11 attempts.  Aidan Carpenter broke loose for a 40-yard touchdown on his only carry and also caught a 29-yard pass. Gavin Jones rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown, and Maddox Knudson added 28 yards and another score.

Carmel’s defense was equally impressive, keeping Fishers off the scoreboard throughout the night. The Greyhounds recorded two sacks, generated 12 quarterback hurries and forced two turnovers. Drew Jones and Aikum Shergill each collected a sack. Drake Coellner intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards, while Kentrell Watson was credited with a fumble recovery.
