Brownsburg’s first-half barrage overwhelms Zionsville, 38-3

Frye throws for 303 yards as Bulldogs score 24 second-quarter points to remain unbeaten

ZIONSVILLE — Brownsburg struck early with an 82-yard touchdown pass, then scored 24 unanswered points in the second quarter to defeat host Zionsville 38-3 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference Indiana high school football matchup.

Oscar Frye threw three touchdown passes, while Brady Lewis rushed for two scores as the Bulldogs improved to 7-0. Zionsville fell to 5-2.

Brownsburg needed little time to demonstrate its big-play potential. Frye connected with Branden Sharpe for an 82-yard touchdown, and Alex Thompson’s extra point gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead.

Lewis followed with a rushing touchdown to double the advantage before Zionsville answered with Sam Black’s 44-yard field goal. The Eagles entered the second quarter trailing 14-3, but those would be their only points.

Brownsburg took control with four scoring plays before halftime. Lewis scored on a 10-yard run to extend the lead to 21-3, then Frye found Parker Condon for a 14-yard touchdown pass.

Thompson added a 26-yard field goal, pushing the margin to 31-3. Frye and Condon connected again for a 10-yard touchdown to complete the first-half scoring and send the Bulldogs into the break ahead 38-3.

Neither team scored in the second half as Brownsburg finished a defensive effort that held Zionsville to 129 yards of offense and five first downs.

Frye completed 14 of 19 passes for 303 yards without an interception. Sharpe caught four passes for 137 yards, while Condon finished with three receptions for 41 yards and two touchdowns.

Lewis supplied the ground production, rushing for 115 yards on 15 carries. The Bulldogs collected 17 first downs.

Zionsville quarterback Finn Giles completed eight of 22 passes for 91 yards. Nic Hoggs led the Eagles with two receptions for 52 yards, including a 45-yard catch, while Theo Schott added three catches for 23 yards.

The Eagles managed 38 rushing yards on 17 attempts. Ben Coffman led their defense with eight tackles, while Gabriel Vinatieri added seven tackles, including two for loss and a sack.
