Greenfield-Central Controls Early, Tops Martinsville 64–51
Greenfield-Central set the tone from the opening tip and never relinquished control, defeating Martinsville 64–51 in Indiana boys high school basketball action.
The Cougars jumped out quickly, building a 17–5 lead after the first quarter behind balanced scoring and strong defensive pressure. Greenfield-Central extended the margin to 32–15 at halftime after outscoring the Artesians 15–10 in the second quarter. Martinsville responded with an 18-point third quarter to trim the deficit, but the Cougars answered in the fourth, outscoring the Artesians 18–18 in the final frame to secure the 13-point victory.
Greenfield-Central shot 19-of-44 (43 percent) from the field and knocked down nine three-pointers. The Cougars also went 16-of-26 (62 percent) from the free-throw line and outrebounded Martinsville 28–20. Martinsville closed the gap somewhat in the second half but struggled to overcome the early deficit created by Greenfield-Central’s hot start.
Clay Mullins led the way with 21 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from three-point range and 7-of-11 from the free-throw line. He added eight rebounds and four assists in a strong all-around performance. Cole Mullins added 17 points, hitting four three-pointers and grabbing six rebounds. Malachi Van contributed 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, providing key interior scoring.
