The 4A Mooresville Pioneers escaped with a narrow win over the 1A #6 Metropolitan Pumas 61-55 in the Lebanon Holiday Tournament opening round. The Pioneers actually lost both the rebounding and turnover battle to Metro 28-24 and 15-9 respectively. Credit the 54 percent shooting performance to the win for the Pioneers, leading to three players in double-figures. AJ Defur scored a whopping 20 points to lead the way with seven boards. Brevon Burns and Tyrone Elmore added 14 and 12 while combining for six assists and a pair of blocks. 

4A Mooresville faces 4A Perry Meridian in round two.
