Hamilton Heights football beats Twin Lakes 61–28 behind Whitaker’s five touchdown passes

Huskies score 28 first-quarter points in Indiana high school football victory

MONTICELLO, Ind. — Hamilton Heights football rode a fast start and five touchdown passes from Lucas Whitaker to a 61–28 victory over Twin Lakes on Friday, Oct. 9, in an Indiana high school football conference matchup.

The Huskies improved to 5–3 behind 500 yards of total offense. Twin Lakes fell to 6–2.

AJ Flanagan opened the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run, then added a 1-yard score after a Twin Lakes punt.

Hamilton Heights followed with two touchdowns off interceptions. Whitaker found Jackson Mikesell for a 10-yard score after the first takeaway. Cyrus Mason’s interception set up Mikesell’s 10-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Huskies a 28–0 first-quarter lead.

Twin Lakes responded in the second quarter. Cooper Dold threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Keaton Miller, but Hamilton Heights answered with a 23-yard scoring pass.

Dold’s 2-yard touchdown run brought the Indians within 35–14. Whitaker then connected with Brennan Heckman for a 52-yard touchdown before halftime, sending the Huskies into the break ahead 42–14.

Twin Lakes struck early in the third quarter on Dold’s 53-yard touchdown pass to Mason Brummett. Hamilton Heights again answered through the air, with Whitaker finding Mikesell for another score.

Cooper Canada’s fumble return touchdown stretched the lead to 54–21. Mikesell added his third touchdown reception in the fourth quarter before a late Dold-to-Miller score completed the 61–28 final. MaxPreps scoring log.

Whitaker completed 24 of 31 passes for 335 yards and five touchdowns. Mikesell finished with nine receptions for 157 yards and four total touchdowns, including his rushing score.

Flanagan supplied 136 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Heckman caught three passes for 78 yards, while Kase Powell added five receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown.
