Zionsville pulls away from Avon for 33–13 victory

Eagles build halftime advantage, shut out Orioles in third quarter

AVON — Zionsville steadily widened its lead Friday night, using four touchdown passes from Giles to defeat Avon 33–13 in a Hoosier Crossroads football matchup.

The Eagles improved to 6–2, while the Orioles fell to 5–3.

Zionsville established a 7–0 first-quarter advantage, then added 14 points in the second. Avon got on the scoreboard with six points, but the Eagles carried a 21–6 lead into halftime.

The third quarter put the game firmly in Zionsville’s favor. The Eagles scored nine unanswered points, extending their advantage to 30–6 while keeping Avon from gaining ground.

The Orioles added seven points in the fourth quarter, but Zionsville’s three points in the period helped preserve a comfortable margin.

Giles completed 16 of 29 passes for 224 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Nic Hoggs caught five passes for 90 yards and a touchdown, while Spencer Choi contributed 89 rushing yards on 18 carries. Theo Schott, Will Tielker and Tyson McCann each caught a TD from Giles,
