Hawks overwhelm Bloomington North, 51–0

Decatur Central builds 37-point halftime lead, rushes for 350 yards in commanding victory

INDIANAPOLIS — Decatur Central established control early Friday night, widened the gap before halftime and never allowed Bloomington North a way back into the game.

Behind a rushing attack that produced 350 yards and six touchdowns, the Hawks rolled to a 51–0 Indiana high school Mid State Conference victory. Decatur Central improved to 6–1, while Bloomington North fell to 3–4.

Sophomore quarterback Ezekiel Hester helped set the tone with two early rushing touchdowns. Between those scores, Bryson Hunter intercepted a Bloomington North pass and gave the Hawks possession at the Cougars’ 27-yard line. Hester’s second touchdown helped turn that defensive opportunity into a 14–0 advantage.

The pressure continued on both sides of the ball. Decatur Central added a safety, credited in the final statistics to Semiaj Monroe, as Bloomington North struggled to establish an offensive response.

Hunter Harvey also contributed a touchdown reception during the first half. With Hester threatening defenses as both a runner and passer, the Hawks kept finding ways to extend their lead.

Johnathan Rolling Jr. added an 8-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and Colton Ison followed with another rushing score. By halftime, Decatur Central had assembled a 37–0 advantage, leaving the Cougars facing a deficit that required both defensive stops and a dramatic offensive turnaround.

Bloomington North could not produce that response.

Harvey broke loose for a long rushing touchdown in the third quarter, adding another big play to an already productive night. Jackson Doney’s extra point made it 44–0, and the Hawks carried that margin into the fourth.

TJ Tubbs supplied Decatur Central’s final touchdown on a short run in the closing period. Doney converted again, completing a perfect seven-for-seven night on extra points and bringing the score to 51–0.

The Hawks’ defense finished the shutout, keeping Bloomington North scoreless through all four quarters.

Harvey led Decatur Central with 133 rushing yards on nine carries, averaging 14.8 yards per attempt. He also caught two passes for 42 yards, finishing with 175 yards from scrimmage and touchdowns both rushing and receiving.

Hester ran six times for 82 yards and two scores while completing six of nine passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Tubbs added 72 rushing yards and a score on nine carries.

Five different Hawks scored rushing touchdowns, with Rolling and Ison joining Hester, Harvey and Tubbs. Decatur Central averaged 10.9 yards per carry and finished with 426 yards of total offense.

The result reflected the game’s progression: early scoring runs and a takeaway put the Hawks in command, additional touchdowns created a decisive halftime cushion, and a long third-quarter scoring run ended any realistic prospect of a comeback.

For Bloomington North, the challenge remained the same throughout the night — finding a way to sustain an answer against a Decatur Central team that controlled the scoring from start to finish.
