Harvey’s 175 yards help Decatur Central pull away from Plainfield

Hawks rush for five touchdowns in 42-27 conference victory

PLAINFIELD — Hunter Harvey rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns as Decatur Central defeated host Plainfield 42-27 in an Indiana high school football matchup.

Ezekiel Hester added two rushing touchdowns and threw for another score, helping the Hawks improve to 5-1 with the Mid-State Conference victory. Plainfield fell to 4-2.

The teams were tied 7-7 after the opening quarter before Decatur Central edged ahead 21-19 at halftime. The Hawks scored the third quarter’s only touchdown to extend their lead to 28-19, then outscored the Quakers 14-8 in the fourth.

Harvey carried 27 times, averaging 6.5 yards per attempt, as Decatur Central finished with 293 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Hester gained 67 yards on 16 carries and completed 10 of 14 passes for 105 yards. Colton Ison caught a 19-yard touchdown pass, while Emmanuel Owens led the Hawks’ receivers with five catches for 47 yards.

Johnathan Rolling Jr. contributed 29 rushing yards and a touchdown on two carries and caught three passes for 35 yards. Decatur Central totaled 398 yards of offense.

Plainfield quarterback Bryce Sebanc accounted for three touchdowns, completing 18 of 26 passes for 195 yards and a score while rushing for 77 yards and two touchdowns on 16 attempts.

Ethan Ellis caught seven passes for 81 yards and a touchdown and added 28 rushing yards. Zander Nattam had four receptions for 45 yards, while Austin Ward caught four passes for 44 yards. Davontae Thomas added a rushing touchdown as the Quakers finished with 329 yards of offense.

Dylan Rowe led Plainfield’s defense with 14 tackles and a sack. Coen Vanderbush added 13 tackles, while Gavin Riddell recorded nine. Korbyn Woods and Jackson Nagy finished with eight tackles apiece.
