Lockhart’s six touchdowns lead Lapel past Northeastern

Bulldogs build 45-0 halftime lead, improve to 6-0 with 51-6 victory

LAPEL — Max Lockhart threw five touchdown passes and rushed for another score as Lapel overwhelmed visiting Northeastern 51-6 in an Indiana high school football matchup.

Lapel (6-0) scored 21 unanswered points in the first quarter and added 24 in the second to take a 45-0 halftime lead. Both teams scored six points in the third before a scoreless fourth quarter.

Lockhart completed 12 of 20 passes for 212 yards and added 33 rushing yards on three carries.

Reed Hamilton led Lapel’s receivers with three catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Jaxson Cripe caught five passes for 71 yards and a score, while Griffen Stow added two receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. Liam Ko finished with three catches for 29 yards and another score.

Freshman Krayson Riggs paced the Bulldogs’ ground attack with 90 yards on six carries, averaging 15 yards per attempt. Jack Miller added 49 yards on five carries, and Pierre Carr gained 45 yards on four attempts. Jaysiah Jones scored on his lone carry, an 8-yard run.

Lapel finished with 229 rushing yards and averaged 11.5 yards per attempt.

Hamilton and Abram Smith led the Bulldogs’ defense with six tackles apiece. Will Gilbert added five tackles, including two for loss, while Mason Kenemer also recorded five.

Deacon Spitz intercepted a pass and returned it 37 yards. He also recorded two passes defended as Lapel held Northeastern scoreless in three of the four quarters.
