Arsenal Tech edges Shortridge 26-19

Baskins throws three touchdown passes, Morrow leads Titans’ defense

INDIANAPOLIS — Freshman quarterback Amier Baskins threw three touchdown passes as Arsenal Tech defeated host Shortridge 26-19 in an Indiana high school football matchup.

The Titans improved to 2-3, while Shortridge falls to 2-3 following the nonconference contest.

Baskins completed 10 of 12 passes for 130 yards and three scores. Anquan Broner contributed 70 rushing yards on 11 carries and caught a touchdown pass, while Andrew Booker also had a scoring reception. Broner added a touchdown on a punt return and finished with 120 yards on three returns, including a 70-yard runback.

Sophomore Jordan Morrow led Arsenal Tech’s defense with 15 tackles, including nine solo stops and three tackles for loss. He also recorded two passes defended. Christopher Price and Desmond Howell added nine tackles apiece. Price intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards, while Damarion Jones recovered a fumble. Broner contributed seven tackles.

Shortridge’s rushing attack was led by Josiah Elliot, who gained 104 yards and scored twice on 15 carries. Jakhari Elliot added 87 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts. Caleb Smith completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards for the Blue Devils.

Rashad Johnson paced Shortridge’s defense with seven tackles. Jakhari Elliot added six, and Lawuan Similton recorded an interception.
