McCray’s three TDs power Westfield past HSE, 36-7

Maison McCray rushed for three touchdowns as Westfield built a 36-point lead and defeated Hamilton Southeastern 36-7 in Indiana high school football.

McCray gained 140 yards on just seven carries, scoring on runs of 9, 43 and 73 yards. His first two touchdowns helped Westfield take a 15-0 lead after one quarter.

Cooper Melvin added a 2-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter, sending Westfield into halftime ahead 22-0. McCray broke loose for his 73-yard score early in the third, and Melvin connected with Baylor Conner on a 10-yard touchdown pass with one second remaining in the period.

Melvin completed 11 of 12 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown without an interception. Andrew Noble led receivers with three catches for 102 yards, while Conner finished with four receptions for 43 yards and a score. Westfield totaled 371 yards of offense, including 191 rushing.

Olu Fapetu led Westfield’s defense with five tackles and four assists. Sullivan Meehan and Greer each contributed seven combined stops, while Spencer Sullivan intercepted a pass.

Hamilton Southeastern scored on Cameron Kern’s 3-yard run with 9:34 remaining. Kern finished with 50 yards on 11 carries, while Carter Reed rushed for 56 yards on 16 attempts.

Deaken Johnson completed 17 of 26 passes for 143 yards for HSE, which finished with 258 yards of total offense.
