Hawk helps Covenant Christian topple Scecina, 27-13

Josiah Hawk rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown, and Covenant Christian forced four turnovers in a 27-13 home victory over Scecina Memorial in an Indiana high school football game played in Zionsville.

The Warriors improved to 4-1 with the conference win, while the Crusaders fell to 0-5.

Hawk carried 26 times to lead a rushing attack that produced 221 yards. Micah Puckett added 43 yards and a touchdown on five carries as Covenant Christian finished with 335 yards of total offense.

Quarterback Weston Laughlin completed 4 of 11 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions. Liam Yarde caught a 47-yard scoring pass, while Carter Smith added a 36-yard touchdown reception. Yarde also converted all three of his extra-point attempts.

Jayce Sibert led the Warriors’ defense with 10 total tackles and a fumble recovery. Samuel Pumphrey recorded two sacks for 16 yards in losses and recovered a fumble.

James Bonikowske contributed six total tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Carson Mongeau intercepted a pass and returned it 13 yards.
