Brownsburg rolls past Franklin Central 48-0

Frye throws three touchdown passes as Bulldogs dominate from opening quarter

Brownsburg scored on special teams, through the air and on the ground Friday night, overwhelming Franklin Central 48-0.

The Bulldogs won the coin toss and deferred, putting their defense on the field first. Franklin Central went three-and-out and punted, but a penalty resulted in another attempt. Brownsburg blocked the ensuing punt, and Colton Marsden recovered the ball in the end zone for the game’s opening touchdown.

After Franklin Central’s next possession stalled, Brownsburg marched 85 yards in five plays. Quarterback Oscar Frye completed the drive by finding Joshua Volk in the back of the end zone for a 41-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 14-0.

Parker Condon added another touchdown before the end of the first quarter. Condon escaped a tackle in the backfield, spun away from traffic and raced 47 yards to give the Bulldogs a 21-0 advantage.

Brownsburg struck quickly again after Franklin Central opened the second quarter with a three-and-out. Frye connected with Indiana University commit Branden Sharpe for a 59-yard touchdown.

Franklin Central then put together its most promising possession of the half, but a pass intended for Jayce Brewer in the end zone fell incomplete on fourth down.

The Bulldogs answered by handing the ball to Brady Lewis on three consecutive plays. Lewis broke free for a 68-yard touchdown on his third carry of the series, increasing the lead to 35-0.

Franklin Central attempted to avoid a first-half shutout with a 29-yard field goal, but Malachi Hasseld’s kick went wide right. Brownsburg used the remaining time to add another score, with Frye finding Brayden Gratehouse for a 12-yard touchdown that sent the Bulldogs into halftime leading 42-0.

Brownsburg rested its starters throughout the second half. Sophomore Amir Muhammad scored the only touchdown after the break as the Bulldogs completed the 48-point victory.

Frye finished 10 of 11 passing for 203 yards and three touchdowns. Sharpe led the receiving corps with four catches for 98 yards and a touchdown.
