Speedway blanks Arsenal Tech in 49-0 rout
Sparkplugs combine efficient passing, explosive rushing to improve to 2-0
SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Speedway remained undefeated with a 49-0 Indiana high school football nonconference victory over Indianapolis Arsenal Tech.
The Sparkplugs (2-0) finished with 312 yards of total offense, including 166 rushing and 146 passing.
Sophomore quarterback Conner Battle completed 10 of 13 passes for 146 yards and four touchdowns. while rushing for a score. Battle hooked up with Miles Cessna, Logan Moore and Nate Chapman for TDs. Forbes led the ground attack with 139 yards on nine carries. Kellar Socks caught four passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Socks hit paydirt on the ground for the Plugs.
Speedway’s defense held Arsenal Tech (0-2) to 158 total yards and intercepted four passes. The Titans completed 6 of 12 attempts for 60 yards and rushed for 98 yards on 30 carries.
Anquan Broner led Arsenal Tech with 140 all-purpose yards. He caught three passes for 40 yards, rushed for 20 and added 80 yards on kick and punt returns. Christopher Price paced the defense for the Titans with six solo tackles including one for loss.
