Lebanon rallies in fourth quarter to edge Western Boone 28-21

Tigers score twice in final period to earn first victory

THORNTOWN, Ind. — Lebanon scored two unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to rally past Western Boone 28-21 in an Indiana high school football nonconference game Friday night.

The Tigers (1-1) led 7-0 after the opening quarter, but Western Boone responded with 14 points in the second to send the game into halftime tied at 14.

The Stars (0-2) scored the only touchdown of the third quarter to take a 21-14 advantage. Lebanon answered with 14 points in the final period while its defense kept Western Boone off the scoreboard.

Sophomore quarterback Jake Linton completed 18 of 25 passes for 208 yards including a 20-yard touchdown to Ace Goodnight. He also scored on the ground. Jenson Waite powered the rushing attack with 156 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Tannon Monden caught 10 passes for 145 yards, including a 33-yard reception. He added 56 kickoff-return yards and finished with 208 all-purpose yards.

Sam Mukendi led Lebanon’s defense with 10 tackles. Nolan Frost and Dylan Gosewehr added nine apiece, while Avery Akin recorded a sack.

Western Boone quarterback Carson Nicley completed all five of his passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Jack Mallory rushed for 42 yards on 14 carries, and Nathan Thompson caught four passes for 64 yards and a score.
