Pendleton Heights runs past Guerin Catholic, 28-3

PENDLETON — Joel Weaver rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns as Pendleton Heights used a powerful ground attack and stifling defense to defeat Guerin Catholic 28-3 in an Indiana high school football matchup.

The Arabians improved to 2-0 and earned their fourth consecutive home victory dating to last season. Guerin Catholic fell to 1-1.

Quarterback Brandt Gray put Pendleton Heights ahead with a touchdown pass to Lowan Beal late in the opening quarter. The Golden Eagles answered with a field goal, but the Arabians took command before halftime.  Gray completed 14 of 21 passes for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Weaver scored the first of his two rushing touchdowns, and Gray connected with Byron Vores for another score near the end of the second quarter. That touchdown sent Pendleton Heights into halftime with a 21-3 advantage.

Weaver added his second touchdown after the break, increasing the lead to 28-3 by the end of the third quarter. Neither team scored in the fourth.

Pendleton Heights finished with 217 rushing yards, relying on Weaver to control the game and keep the Golden Eagles’ offense off the field. The junior has opened the season with consecutive two-touchdown performances after rushing for 177 yards in the Arabians’ 43-42 overtime victory against Lebanon.

The Pendleton Heights defense did the rest, keeping Guerin Catholic out of the end zone and limiting the Golden Eagles to a single field goal.

The victory gave the Arabians their second decisive win over Guerin Catholic in as many seasons. Pendleton Heights defeated the Golden Eagles 34-0 in 2025.
