Sorgi accounts for five touchdowns as Tri-West defeats Western Boone 42-20

Bruins pile up 473 yards behind senior quarterback’s four touchdown passes

LIZTON, Ind. — Tri-West quarterback Jack Sorgi threw four touchdown passes and added another score on the ground, leading the Bruins to a 42-20 season-opening Indiana high school football victory over Western Boone.

Tri-West took control immediately, scoring 21 unanswered points in the opening quarter. Western Boone responded with 13 points in the second, but the Bruins added seven to take a 28-13 advantage into halftime. Tri-West put the game away with 14 third-quarter points before the Stars scored the only touchdown of the fourth.

The Bruins accumulated 473 yards from scrimmage, producing 310 through the air and 163 on the ground. Sorgi completed 14 of 20 passes for 310 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed five times for 40 yards and a score, giving him 350 total yards and five touchdowns.

Carter Cummings led Tri-West’s receiving corps with five catches for 117 yards and a touchdown, including a 64-yard reception. Quentin Alexander collected five passes for 100 yards and a score. Wanson Hall caught a 35-yard touchdown pass, while Gage Bundy scored on a 31-yard reception. Braxton Fleece powered the Bruins’ rushing attack, gaining 83 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

Tri-West’s defense forced two turnovers. Aden Schenck recorded an interception, while John Sandlin recovered and forced a fumble.
