Plainfield pulls away late to top Brownsburg in girls basketball matchup
PLAINFIELD — Plainfield used a strong second half and balanced scoring to pull away late and defeat Brownsburg 51–46 in a hard-fought girls sectional semi-final high school basketball game.
The Lady Quakers built a slim advantage early and carried a 20–18 lead into halftime before extending the margin in the third quarter. Plainfield outscored the Lady Bulldogs 28 – 21 in the second half, making key defensive stops down the stretch to seal the five-point victory. Plainfield’s ability to control the tempo late and convert at the free-throw line proved to be the difference. Berkeley Williams and Hannah Menser were huge in the fourth quarter converting for a combined 8 of 8 from the free line.
Williams led Plainfield with 17 points, providing a steady offensive presence throughout the night. Mensser added 16 points, including several key baskets in the second half, while Abrielle Dugan chipped in nine points to round out a balanced scoring effort for the Quakers.
Brownsburg stayed within striking distance behind a strong performance from Kadence Paddock, who finished with 11 points. Elle McCulloch added 10 points.
