Triton Central holds off Eastern Hancock in tight girls basketball showdown

INDIANAPOLIS — Triton Central used a balanced scoring effort and timely baskets down the stretch to hold off Eastern Hancock, 60–58, in a tightly contested Heritage Christian girls high school basketball sectional semi-final game.

The Tigers built momentum in the middle quarters and were able to withstand a late push from Eastern Hancock to secure the two-point victory. Triton Central led 30–28 at halftime before extending the margin slightly with a strong third quarter, taking a 44–40 lead into the final period.  Eastern Hancock stayed within striking distance throughout the night behind a balanced offensive effort. The Royals closed the gap late in the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to two possessions in the final minutes, but Triton Central converted enough opportunities to hold on.

Kate Collier paced Triton Central with 17 points including three 3’s, while Maryrose Felding added 15 points in a strong all-around performance. Quinn King contributed 13 points, providing key scoring in both halves as the Tigers finished with three players in double figures.
