The 3A Speedway Sparkplugs fell short to the 3A Shortridge Blue Devils 46-40 with a late rally in the second half. The Sparkplugs held a 30-28 lead headed into the fourth, but an 18 point quarter would be enough to put the Blue Devils ahead for good. In the loss, Speedway shot 40 percent as a team and struggled at the charity stripe hitting only 7 of 15 attempts. Freshman Madelynn Matelic led the Speedway offense knocking down a pair of 3’s on her way to a 19 point night with 4 steals. Kalissa Jackson-Dietzer was a big facilitator racking up 6 assists with 4 blocks of her own defensively.
3A Shortridge is 3-1 on the young season, 3A Speedway remains winless at 0-2.
