A battle of the North Side played out in Sectional 3 with the 6A Zionsville Eagles stealing a win from the 6A Carmel Greyhounds 29-28 in the final seconds of the game. After a scoreless first quarter from both sides Zionsville drew first blood in the second on a one yard rush from Sam Manna. The Greyhounds bounce back with a pair of scores. First it’s Andrew Pemberton breaking away for a 46 yard rushing score followed by a Nate Williams two yard punch in, Carmel leads 14-7. Eagle quarterback Zachary Trent put up his first score of the game to tie, finding Eugene Hilton for a 19 yard touchdown. Nate Williams answers back for Carmel with his second touchdown of the night, a six yarder to put the Hounds back ahead 21-14. Trent and Hilton continue their connection with a second touchdown play, this time from 12 yards out to tie things back at 21 each. Jackson Treadway gets the lead back for Carmel with a 32 yard passing score to Jacob Bellin, Hounds lead 28-21. Down to the final seconds of the game, Trent uses his legs to punch home a three yard score. The Eagles put together a successful two point try with the legs of Hilton to solidify the win 29-28. Trent finished 22 of 39 for 223 yards in the air, Hilton led in receiving with 70 yards on 10 catches. Carmel ends the season 3-7.
6A Zionsville travels to face 6A #3 Westfield next week for the Sectional 3 Title.
