The 2A No. 19 University Trailblazers edged out the 2A Triton Central Tigers 44-43 to advance past the 2A Lebanon Regional. The contest was about as classic of a nail-biter as someone could expect. The Tigers held just a 9-8 lead after the first quarter before the ‘Blazers took over in the middle quarters, outscoring Triton 25-18. The Tigers made an 18 point push in the 4th quarter that would leave them short of the win. University’s performance on the glass was a major factor in the win, pulling down 17 rebounds to Triton’s 13. The real difference came in the scoring, or lack thereof, across the Triton roster. Junior Eli Sego, went 6-of-8 from three on his way to 30 points. No one else hit double-figures. Leading University was Blake Gray with a 2-for-2 three-point performance on his way to 17 points with 4 steals. Joshua Henderson scored 8. University (18-9) advances to face 2A No. 17 Linton (21-6) in semi state.
Triton Central ends the season 16-10.
